Connie J Saunders

Hello! My name is Connie Saunders. I'm a Senior at the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, and currently going for my Bachelors degree. I am majoring in animation and game design, and on the side I take commissioned illustration work. My main goal for when I get out of school is to work at studios as a rough 2D-3D animator. My main goal in my art is to entertain and make people laugh, myself included. With my art and the stories I write, I just like to be goofy and fun and hopefully make someone whose not doing so well just laugh and forget about their problems for a little while. I take a lot of inspiration from the 2000's era of Nicktoons when creating my art. Shows like Invader Zim and My Life as a Teenage Robot. Shows that I didn't watch while I was younger, but really appreciated the artwork and recently started getting into, really paved and gave me a lot of inspiration for finding my style. I like to use sharp line-work and a bold outer outline with thinner strokes on the inside because I think it exaggerates the poses of characters and makes my art more recognizable. I think my style has a unique flair to it making it stand out beyond the crowd of other artists.

We here at the Snorkin-Squad company love this little creature and believe it deserves more recognition among its peers of other cryptids. So that's why we banded together and hacked Connie's portfolio website to bring you an overview of who this little creature is and sightings.

Squonk render by Ashley Gerst.
The first written evidence of the Squonk dates all the way back to 1910 in the book "Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberwoods" written by William T. Cox, and the creatures lore would be later expanded on in the 1939 book "Fearsome Critters". The Squonk migrated from swamps to the Hemlock forests of PA due to deforestation. Every year in August, Johnstown PA holds a Squonkapalooza which is a celebration for the Squonk to cheer it up because it's always sad and crying due to how ugly it thinks it is.
The Squonk has been described to have loose fitting skin that is sprinkled with warts and moles. If any person try to go after the Squonk they can be tracked down by their trail of tears they leave behind, and once cornered they'll be so freighted they'll dissolve into their own tears and vanish.

All though none of the Snorkin-Squad team has ever been to the forests in Johnstown, a member has had a run in with the Squonk. Below is a illustration the eye-witness has drawn up of what the creature looked like.

Drawing made by Logan Saunders.
At the Snorkin-Squad headquarters we put our best scientists to the test to make a photo realistic render of the illustration Logan provided to us, and I must warn you, it's not for the faint of heart.

What the Snorkin-Scientists gave back to us.
Truly frightening, but that's all we got to say about the Squonk. We hoped you learned something and start to love this thing a little more.
